This is Really Happening

I have accepted one university offer, chosen one as an insurance choice, and declined the other three. My student finance application has been completed and approved. Come September I will really be heading off to University.

I am so incredibly excited! My friends are nervous about school ending, moving away, and everything changing. But I can't wait for things to change. Not because my life is terrible - because it isn't. Or because I am unhappy - because I am not. But because I actually like change. I want the excitement of a new place. I want somewhere new, somewhere different, and altogether better. Somewhere where I can be whoever I want to be. Somewhere where I can completely reinvent myself and become a totally different person. Not that I will, but it is nice to know that the opportunity is there.

It is strange though, because this time last year I had a completely different plan in mind. I wanted to jet off to America for university, or take a gap year and become an Au pair. When I started thinking about this I wondered what had happened to that girl? The brave girl with big plans who was willing to throw caution to the wind and live while she was young. Am I still that girl? Or did I get scared and decide to take the safe option? Am I making a huge mistake? Am I going to regret not taking a gap year, or becoming an Au pair, or studying abroad?

These questions filled my mind. I didn't know what to do. And to be honest I still didn't know when I sat down to write this post. But that is one of the many wonderful things about blogging: it helps you to see things more clearly. For me it does anyway. Writing it all down helps me to organise my thoughts and figure things out. And now I know that I'm not making a mistake. Going to University here in England is the right thing for me.

Looking Back

I have had this blog for over a year now, and I was randomly wondering how much I have changed since my first ever post (which was in may 2012). So I had a look at it, and surprisingly not much has really changed.

I mean I am no longer obsessed with reading fanfiction or glee. But I am pretty sure that I have new TV show obsessions to replace that.

The other thing that I noticed was that in that first ever post I was worrying about choosing my A-level options. That is pretty similar to right now, in that I am now choosing which universities to apply to. I have pretty much chosen, but I still do this thing where I will keep changing my mind right up until the last minute. And then in the end I will choose what I chose in the first place. I don't know why that is, I am just really bad at making decisions. I am always scared that I will make the wrong ones.

Something that has changed since then is that I thought that I had to have my whole life figured out. Now I have decided what degree I want to do, but beyond that I have no idea. And that is okay. I don't have to decide everything now, because even if I do I will probably change mind by the time that time comes anyway.

(2) I am completely obsessed with the TV show friends, and I would really like a friends T-shirt if anyone feels like buying one for me ;)

(5) I procrastinate like crazy, and I should really be writing my History essay right now

(7) I used to do Ballet until I realized that I can't dance

(10) I am really clumsy - I was in the canteen drinking hot chocolate on Monday, and I managed to pour it all down myself, so I spent the rest of the day smelling like chocolate :) 
(11) I lose everything - I have currently misplaced my hairbrush, so I rocking a (very) messy bun right now

(1) who or what was your first love?Well I have never been in love with anybody (blame that on going to an all girls school), but I love my family to bits (even if they are annoying) and I guess I always have so I would say it's my family.

(2) where is your favourite place on earth?This is really hard to choose because there are so many places that I love, but my favourite place is probably London. My favourite place in London is probably Covent Garden because I like the little stalls in the market bit, and there are nice Restuarants where you ca sit outside, and my favourite thing of all are the street performers.  (3) what makes you amazing?Hmm okay this is actually a really hard question. I would like to think that I am a good friend, and I think I am a pretty good listener.

(4) where do you see yourself in 10 years?I'm going to tell you the truth I don't have a clue. The future terrifies me, and I honestly have no idea what I want to do with my life, which terrifies me even more. I hope that in 10 years I will have been to university, found a job that I love, and be living in a tiny apartment in New York.

(5) what inspired you to start blogging?I actually really don't know, I think I just woke up one morning and decided to make a blog!

(6) why are you proud of where you live?I've been thinking about this question for a while now, and I can't really think of anything. I guess that because I have never gone to a local school and most of my friends live far away I don't spend much time here, so I don't feel that much of a connection to this place.

(7) if you could be a character from a book, who would you be and why?I think I would like to be Katniss from The Hunger Games because she is so strong and clever and I would get to end up with Peeta. I wouldn't like to fight in the Hunger Games though. Or maybe I would be Alice from Alice in Wonderland because it would be fun to fall down the rabbit hole. Or maybe I would be someone from Harry Potter, not a main character though, just a random girl because it would be fun to be magic, and who doesn't want to go to Hogwarts? 

(8) who do you admire most in the world?Umm... I really don't know.

(9) what is your favourite song that in your opinion is under appreciated?'Everything has changed' by Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran, because I love that song, and I don't know if it is just my friends but it seems pretty under appreciated to me. 

(10) how are you going to spend this Christmas?I will be in Thailand this christmas, so I will probably spend it lying on the beach and swimming.

(11) what is your favourite quote, and why? My favourite quotes are always chnging, but a quote that I have always loved is this one from A Cinderella Story - "Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game"
