Life lessons

So I am back from skiing (a day early because it decided to pour with rain for all of yesterday and ruin all the snow), and while I was there I learnt a valuable life lesson. This lesson was: Always shave your legs - even when you are going on a ski holiday with your family.

Let me explain. Friday night we were on our way to the ski resort, we stopped at a service station to get some dinner and fill up the car. I was (for a reason that I don't remember) racing my brother to the door. We were running. There were some small steps. I didn't see these steps (it was dark remember. Next thing I know I am lying on the ground, with the blood from my knee soaking into my jeans. That makes it sound worse than it was, there wasn't much blood.

So a couple of hours of driving later and we have arrived. I get out of the car and my knee has swelled up to approximately the size of Australia.

Now skip ahead to saturday morning and I am in the pharmacy with my dad, having already dropped my brothers off for their snowboard lesson - which I was meant to be taking with them. Neither me nor my dad can speak much french, so we were trying to explain to the woman that we needed something for my knee. So eventually my dad tells me to just show her my knee. I was thinking "no, my legs are so hairy at the moment", but luckily I had the excuse that I was dressed in full ski gear.

We managed to explain it to the woman in the end, so all was well. But guys seriously remember this lesson!

Snowboarding

I am going snowboarding tomorrow, so I will be away from the blog for a week or so. I have never been snowboarding before, and as I heve probably told you before I am terrible at pretty much all sports (if I haven't then I will tell you now: I am terrible at sports), so I am not sure how well it is going to go. I will probably have a very bruised bum by the end of it.

The main problem at the moment is that (1) you need to wake up early and (2) you need to actually have some energy after doing so. Something which I do not have at the moment. I am so tired. I am huge-dark-circles-under-my-eyes tired. All-I-want-to-do-is-sleep tired. I-didn't-know-you-could-be-this-tired-in-the-holidays tired.

Hello April...

Wow, I can't believe it is April already. March went by so quickly.

It certainly doesn't feel like April. It was snowing yesterday! This is crazy, and as much as I love snow this weather is unacceptable. It is meant to be spring. We are meant to be putting away our hats and scarves, and getting ready for summer.

Subject Choices

My subject choices for next year are due on Tuesday. We only carry on 3 of our A levels, and get to drop the other one. Up until yesterday I was sure that I wanted to drop German, but after yesterdays reslts I am thinking that maybe I should drop Biology. The thing is the thought of doing German for another year after this fills me with dread. The only thing that has been getting me through German this year is that I can drop it at the end of the year. At the same time as hating it though, I kind of like learning German. But I prefer Biology. I think that maybe I am better at German though, and I don't want to carry on Biology if I get a bad grade again in the summer.

If only I could drop them both, and just do Psychology and History. That would make me very happy. But that cannot happen, so I shall have to choose one. It is just so hard to decide which one I am less rubbish at (even though for some reason my predicted grades are A's).

Exam Results

Here in England it was results day for January exams today. I got back the results for my Psychology and Human Biology exams that I sat in January. Let's start with the good: I got an A in Psychology! And now the not so good: in Human Biology I got a D. Well done me. I really messed that one up.

The worst thing is that I really wasn't expecting it. I came out of the exam thinking that I had done alright. So when I opened my results I was really surprised to see a D. Put that together with the fact that all of my friends had A's, and maybe the occasional B, and I was pretty unhappy. I felt better later on though, when I found out that the majority of my Biology class had not got very good results. There were only two people in our whole class who got an A.

I can retake the exam in the summer, so hopefully I will do better then. I just have to pay £15 and do a load more revision. I am not at all envious of next years A level students who won't have January exams, and won't have that opportunity. I think that it is unfair not to have re-takes because sometimes with all of the pressure, and the nerves you just don't do as well as you should have.

Snail's pace

My Internet is being incredibly slow at the moment. Also my brothers got an X-box for Christmas, which may seem like it has nothing to do with this, but because we live in the middle of no-where our Internet connection is not great (it is just especially bad at the moment). This means that whenever they play fifa on x-box live (which, if they had their way would be all day), no one else is allowed to go on the Internet, because it makes the game laggy. So anyway I do not exactly think it's fair that because they now have this x-box I can't go on the Internet. But my parents make us share the 'internet time'. I feel like a 5 year old, with my allotted time for going on the Internet. I cannot be bothered to argue with my brothers every night over who is going on the Internet though. So this is my only choice.

This has led me to the discoveries that a) I hate x-box live with a passion, b) I spend a lot of time on the Internet and c) I do not know how people survived without the Internet. They must have gone outside (outside? noooo) and socialised ith people (ugh socialising? noooo).

So let me see, a list of things you can do without the Internet:
- Watch TV, although there is never anything on
- Read a book, but right now I have no new books to read
- Homework
- Watch paint dry... ;)
So basically there is not much to do. ;)

London

So I went to London yesterday to go to a University fair, and it struck me how different London feels after having gone to NYC. Being the small town girl that I am, London has always been the big busy city, but yesterday it really didn't seem busy. There were quite a few people at Trafalgar square when we walked past, but really it wasn't very busy at all. Maybe it is the time of year or something.

But anyway it was the first nice day we have had in a while, and it was so nice to just be able to walk from the Conference centre (where the University fair was held), to the theatre. Google chrome has it's own spell check, and for some reason it seems to think that centre is spelt center and theatre is spelt theater, so I just had an intense moment of questioning my entire life because I can no longer spell. I'm just kidding, but I did become rather confused, and had to do three different spell checks.... So anyway side track aside, what was I actually saying in this post? Aah yes London. So anyway I went to see the Musical Jersey Boys, which was good, but doesn't beat We Will Rock You for my favourite musical ever.

So anyway this spell check is really confusing me, so I need to go find some way to turn it off.
